Itinerary

Day 1 - Among the Big Green Parks & Palaces

Welcome to Iran. To be met by your tour guide at the airport (IKA airport), you will be transferred to your hotel. Visit Sa’adAbad and Niavaran Palace. The Sa’ad Abad Palace Complex was built by Qajar and Pahlavi monarchs. Today, the official residence of the President of Iran is located adjacent to the complex. In the evening we take a walk on the Nature Bridge. Nature bridge is located in Ab-o-Atash Park in Tehran. It has won an international prize for architectural design. The reason it is named nature bridge is that it connects 3 parks and It is one of the most popular parks in Tehran.

Day 2 - Tehran Excursion

We start our city tour by visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Golestan Palace*, part of a complex of royal buildings that were once enclosed within the mud-thatched walls of Tehran’s historic arg, or citadel along with Tehran’s Grand Bazaar. Then, after having lunch we will visit Iran National Museum with all its amazing remains of ancient and historical Iran. In the late afternoon, we can spend some time on 30th Tir Street surrounded by all the street food trucks among locals.

Day 3 - Persian Garden & Houses

In the morning, we will leave Tehran for Kashan. On our way, we will visit Ouyi Underground City to discover the magical architecture of Nushabad underground city (dated back to the Sassanid era.). Then we drive to Kashan and visit historical houses like Tabatabaee, and Borujerdi. Then we visit the beautiful Fin Persian Garden*, one of the historical Persian gardens. For lunch and dinner, we will have local food.

Day 4 - Spring Roses

In the morning, we will visit a distillery garden and enjoy firsthand herbal distillate like rosewater and other beverages in Niasar. Then on our way to Mahallat, we visit Chal-e-Nakhjir Cave and walk hundreds of meters underground with 70 million years old history. And finally, in Mahallat we experience hydrotherapy in Mahallat hot springs.

Day 5 - Who is Pahlavan

In the morning, we will leave Mahallat for Isfahan. In Isfahan, we go to Khorasgan Naghashi’s Traditional Bathroom and get familiar with the traditional way of washing, massaging, and debating. Then we visit a traditional Zurkhane (Ali Gholi Agha) and get familiar with the traditional system of athletics (Varzesh-e Pahlavāni). in the afternoon, we spend time strolling along the Zayandeh River Bridges and Si-o-Se-Pol Bridge. And for dinner, we have local food for dinner.

Day 6 - Half of the World

In the morning, after having breakfast, we visit Naghsh-e Jahan Square*, Shah Mosque*,  Lotfollah Mosque* and Aliqapoo Palace*. Then in the evening, we will drive to Yazd.

Day 7 - Traditional water & wind system

In the early morning, we will drive to Ardakan to visit Ardakan Qanat *and experience gently sloping underground water channels. Then we drive to Meybod to get amazed by the pottery art. We have lunch in Shah Abbasi Caravanserai. Then we come back to Yazd to stroll in old town lanes in Fahadan Neighborhood. After that, we visit Dowlat Abad Persian Garden** and learn about the technique of woodwork, qanat, and windcatcher as the tallest old wind catcher in the world. Then for dinner, we have local food.

Day 8 - Zoroastrian Life

In the morning we visit the Fire Temple and its grounds in Yazd*. Then drive to Taft, to be welcomed in a Zoroastrian way, getting familiar with this authentic religion and the beliefs that remain alive.  We visit the Tower of Silence, or Dakhma, where the bodies of the deceased were placed, to avoid contaminating the earth as a Zoroastrian funerary tradition and Then we have lunch at Nartitee. After lunch, we walk and get relaxed in the pomegranate garden and try some meditation techniques together then we bake local bread called Sirog. After that, we drive back to Yazd.

Day 9 - Two Aging Cities

After having breakfast, we drive to Kerman. On our way, we visit the pistachio garden in Rafsanjan. Then we have a local lunch in Kerman. After having lunch, we visit Ganjalikhan Complex including Hammam, water cistern, caravanserai & Bazaar. Then we finish the day by having local food for dinner.

Day 10 - Glory of Desert

Today we get surprised in Lut Desert* as the world’s 27th-largest desert and a UNESCO world heritage site, and experience one of the most enjoyable adventures in your trip.

Day 11 - Live Like Cavemen

Today we drive to Meymand*, a UNESCO world heritage site. We experience stay-at-hand-dug dwellings, as of the primary habitats of man in Iran with approximately 2 – 3 thousand years of history, and feel the close relationship between life and nature.

Day 12 - On The Way to Shiraz

In the morning we leave Meymand for Shiraz, on the way to Neyriz we will visit Jame Mosque one of the oldest mosques in Iran related to the Seljuq dynasty (10th A.D).

Day 13 - Shiraz City Tour

Today we explore the amazing city of Shiraz. We start by visiting Nasir-al Molk Mosque (aka Pink Mosque). Then continue by visiting Zolvanyari Carpet Company the only manufacturer of organic handmade carpets in the world and getting familiar with dyeing methods. Then we find enticing dining options between dazzling local food in Vakil Bathhouse. After having lunch, we visit Vakil Bazaar and the Zandiyeh Ensemble, and historical monuments like Karim Khan Castle.

Day 14 - Missing Persia

Today we explore Persepolis* Nagh-e-Rostam and Pasargadae** (all UNESCO world heritage sites) and take time in these ancient Achaemenid gems. Then we have local food in Ojagh Seyyed Karim eco-lodge for lunch. Then we drive to Shiraz to depart from the international airport of Shiraz.

Do I need a visa to enter Iran, and how do I obtain Iran Tourist Visa?

Yes, you need a visa to enter Iran as a visitor. You should make your visa application well in advance of your date of travel. The application process for an Iranian visa can be long and unpredictable. Visitors to Iran must obtain a visa from one of the Iranian diplomatic missions unless they come from one of the visa-exempt countries or countries eligible for a visa on arrival.

To obtain an Iranian visa, you must first get a visa authorization code that proves your visa application is approved by the Iranian MFA. Once you have this code, you will be able to collect your visa at any embassy or airport. Apply for your Iran Visa and get it in less than 3 days. Please be noted that if you are buying a tour package from us, the visa authorization code is also included and you do not need to apply separately. Do I need an Iranian SIM card?

It’s not compulsory, but since you need to have access to the Internet, having a SIM card will be necessary. This tour includes Special Iran Travel Deal which has a SIM card for travelers.

Do I need travel insurance?

Where should I exchange my money?

Where to change somehow depends on the amount of money you’d like to exchange. If it’s a small amount you can change at the airport or your hotel after getting to Iran. But for larger amounts, we suggest exchanging at an exchange store in the city, while you are visiting the downtown with your guide. Your guide will also assist you in choosing the best place for doing the exchange. 

Are there Airport transfers for the tour?

Yes, To Iran Tour offers airport transfers. The distance from IKA to Tehran downtown is about 50 km and having an airport transfer will be a great solution when you just arrive in Tehran. This tour includes Special Iran Travel Deal which has Airport transfers for travelers.

Can I use my credit card in Iran, or do I need cash or a Tourist Card?

International credit or debit cards are not accepted in Iran, so you must bring cash and conduct frequent exchanges.

Are there any health concerns or vaccinations required before traveling to Iran?

All non-Iranian nationals older than 12 years, must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and present a valid vaccine certificate on arrival. The vaccination certificate must be in English, showing full vaccination of 2 doses. However, there are no obligations regarding the date of the vaccination. Or they should present a negative PCR test. 

What are accommodations like in this tour and what is their quality and comfort level?

Considering the locality and having an authentic experience, some traditional hotels or ecolodges do not have beds. But they all have sleeping equipment with comfortable Mattresses and Blankets. 

What are transportation like in this tour and what is their safety and comfort level?

Based on the group size or the road quality and the tour type, minibusses, vans or VIP buses will be used for the tour which are all private vehicles. All the vehicles are AC equipped and have the standard of EURO5 or EURO4.
