Itinerary

Welcome to Iran! Arrival at Imam Khomeini International Airport; greeted by the guide and transferred to the hotel. We will meet again in the early evening for a briefing of our Persian Carpet Tour and a welcome dinner.

In Tehran, we will visit the Carpet Museum to familiarize ourselves with Iranian Carpets. Then we pay a visit to Tehran’s Carpet Bazaar in Tehran Grand Bazaar.

O/N Tehran

In the morning take a flight to Shiraz, one of the greatest cities in carpet weaving. In Shiraz, we will visit its carpet and rug Bazaar called Vakil Bazaar. It is located in the old part of the city. So, besides of carpet, we will visit Vakil Complex (Bath, Bazaar, and the Mosque).

O/N Shiraz

We will visit a Carpet workshop and atelier and familiarize ourselves with techniques of carpet weaving. Then visit Fars Carpet Museum, The museum whose historic building dates back to the Safavids period, to see the traditional carpets. At the end of the day, we will visit some carpet galleries.

The carpet of Shiraz is woven with an asymmetric knot and has an average of 120 knots per square inch (KPSI 120) and its knot density is KPSM 160,000 (up to 80000 knots per square meter). However, the density of the knot is higher, and the quality of the carpet is also higher. All carpets of Shiraz are carefully woven with all tastes, and even the carpets with a lower number of knots are of no lower quality.

O/N Shiraz

In the morning we drive to Yazd. En route depending on the season, we may be able to visit the nomad’s campsite and explore their carpet weaving handicraft. After checking into the room in Yazd Traditional Hotel/House and a short break, we will go to visit the Yazd historic city. The first place we visit is the Fire temple. It enshrines the Atash Bahram, meaning “Victorious Fire”, dated to 470 AD. Then we visit the Tower of Silence, where the bodies of the deceased were placed, to avoid contaminating the earth as a Zoroastrian funerary tradition. The Jameh Mosque of Yazd is the grand, congregational mosque (Jameh) of Yazd city. Yazd is best known for carpets with charming patterns, pile less carpets, tirma, brocaded silk, velvet, blankets, and bed-cloths.

After a traditional lunch in Ardakan, we move towards one of the Iranian carpet piers, the Naein city. In the textile industry, Naein’s reputation in the previous years was a very delicate special wear texture that was woven from camel wool, but at the same time it lost its boom and the people of this city also replaced carpet weaving.

Due to the architecture of the bridge and the ability to play the sound of it, on Thursday night music enthusiasts come together in this place.
