Today We will continue exploring Kerman. We will have one stop on our way to visit the 1000-year-old Sirch Cypress tree. Then we will cross and visit the world’s 33 rd -largest deserts. Consequently, the site presents some of the most spectacular examples of aeolian yardang landforms (massive corrugated ridges). It also contains extensive stony deserts and dune fields. The property represents an exceptional example of ongoing geological processes. The Lut Desert* protects a globally-recognized iconic hot desert landscape, one of the hottest places on earth. It is renowned for its spectacular series of landforms, namely the yardangs (massive corrugated ridges). The yardangs are so large and impressive that they can be seen easily from space. Lut is particularly significant for the great
variety of desert landform types found in a relatively small area. The yardang/kalut landforms are widely considered the best-expressed in the world in terms of extent, unbroken continuity, and height. From a distance, they look like the ruins of an enormous legendary city with grand palaces and buildings both short and high. The Lut sand seas are amongst the best-developed active dune fields in the world, displaying a wide variety of dune types (crescentic ridges, star dunes, complex linear dunes, funnel-shaped dunes) with dunes amongst the highest observed anywhere on our planet. Nebkha dune fields (dunes formed around plants) are widespread with those at Lut as high as any measured elsewhere. And after being in the Desert We visit Shazdeh Mahan Garden** (meaning the Prince’s Garden) one of the Persian Gardens registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It looks like a miracle in the middle of a desert.

On our tour, we visited the city’s historical sites and learned about the city’s unique culture and stunning architecture. We also made stops at the famous Kerman Bazaar, renowned for its rich array of textiles, souvenirs, and spices. Also, the desert exploration was an unforgettable experience. I didn’t ask for a night in the desert and it’s my only regret!
