Fars Province in a Glance
The word “Persian” actually refers to “Pars” or its nowadays pronunciation “Fars”. Fars is located in the southwest of Iran where the Persian Empire raised up and where Perspolise is located. The provincial capital of Fars is Shiraz, the City of Roses and Nightingales. Also, Shiraz is known as the city of poets because of two worldwide well-known poets buried in this city, Hafez of Shiraz and Sa’di of Shiraz. In each corner of this province, there is something waiting to amaze you.
People and Culture
People from Fars are happy, content, hospitable, love to hang out and simply enjoy their lives! But at the same time, during history, they proved that they are effective warriors whenever circumstances make it necessary.
The province has various unique traditions, rituals, and lifestyles from nomads to urban lifestyles. Special schools of music, dance, and clothing are noteworthy as well.
City of Shiraz
Shiraz is located in the southwest of Iran and the northwest of Fars Province. It was built in a green plane at the foot of the Zagros Mountains approximately 1500 meters (5200 ft.) above sea level.
In the 13th century, Shiraz became a leading center of the arts and literature and many Persian scholars and artists flourished in this city. Shiraz is the city of poets and flowers. It is also considered by many Iranians to be the city of gardens. There are many old gardens in Shiraz such as Eram garden and Afif Abad. As mentioned above, Shiraz is the land of poets, mystics, and philosophers. The famous ones are Sa’di and Hafez, the mystic Roozbehan and the philosopher Mulla Sadra.

Local crafts
The crafts of Shiraz consist of inlaid mosaic work of triangular sign; silverware, pile carpet weaving, Gilim, textile products, wood products, metalwork, and rugs.
